The remote IP home worker extension was a key factor in the decision to select the advantage system. Three employees of the company work in a second office and two others wanted the flexibility to work from home a couple of days a week. To do so all they have to do is simply plug the advantage IP telephone sets into the broadband modem wherever they are in Ireland.

The phone is pre-programmed to register with the Advantage 4800 switch in the head office over the broadband line and becomes an internal extension of the system with access to the full range of PABX functions. If someone in head office wishes to call a home worker they simply dial their extension number and vice versa. It is a seamless way for people to work from home and still have all they features/facilities of the telephone system. The integrated voice encryption ensures the security of the calls on the public internet.
